I have always been passionate about the outdoors, and have been working with people in the natural world for the last 15 years. I first did this as a camp counsellor and adventure guide, then as an educator and youth worker, and finally as a social worker and psychotherapist. I feel that I have benefited immensely from the experiences I have had in nature and am driven to try to pass this on to others.
I have learned that in helping, relationship and trust is the cornerstone of any work to be done. I have also seen that when therapy is presented through experience and movement, it can be much more accessible to those who otherwise struggle to engage or benefit. While working the last 4 years as a school social worker, I have gained invaluable experience in standing alongside young people and their families as they navigate transitions and difficulties both inside and outside of the education system.
I completed a Bachelors in Outdoor Adventure Leadership at Laurentian University and a Masters of Social Work at Carelton University. I have received formal training in modalities such as Emotion-Focussed Therapy, Adventure Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which I incorporate into my relational and ecological approach to therapy.
Outside of work, I get outside whenever I can. I enjoy canoeing, rock climbing, hiking and hanging out with my golden retriever, Zoey.
